Creative Recovery by the Texas coastline.

It’s inevitable. One moment you’re gathering more creative momentum than you know what to do with, the income is in a flowstate, the next you find yourself grounded with no faith in your ability to dig out. These moments require a unique escape from the familiar. A path paved in sandy surroundings beyind the radius of the local coffeeshop.

I found such a creative conduit at the beach, specifically an isolated spot along the Port Aransas, Texas shoreline. Cliché as it sounds, it’s a whole new world indeed. As I sit here admist the absolute freedom from the suburban life, my creativity feels unleashed. It had been in a rut lately, mostly because I’ve felt unworthy to explore my full creative potential. Equal parts fear of failure and success sprinkled with circumstantial discord.

My first sight. Perhaps the most magnificent prelude to recovery ever.

Here at the beach, however, I feel a release from those pressures to show up a certain way. I am allowed to simply be, not posting on social media for validation, no active phones, text messages, or scrolling. Just permission to exist while being consoled by the fresh salt air. It is almost surreal as I recount recent tragedies in my life which have broken and rebuilt me stronger than I ever imagined. Here no distractions exist, no accountability, just the privelge to disengage and reflect. How else can I describe the beach? It’s a panoramic, introverted nirvana, no crowds, the closest neighbors miles apart, though we all seem to be drawing from the same energy to connect to ourselves and our loved ones. In my case, the only words shared were exclusively between me and my notebook chronicling this escape from the mundane. Admittedly, I may not even considered this trip or it’s benefits optional unless challenged to see them first-hand.

First beach pass. Felt like I took a real step in my manhood for under $20.

I can attest that basking in the constant ocean airflow realigned my creative chakra. I even had a heart-to-heart with ‘Creative Jason.’ He told me that hearing the ocean waves irl (in real life) was much more immersive than the sound effects attached to my phone that help me sleep at night. That my time wasn’t being wasted here serving myself over others. Above all, that being here, in this moment, at the beach just felt right according to expectations of the heart, not head. Here, everything you feel you didn’t have time to do for yourself is both accepted and celebrated.

“The best souvenirs from any journey are the memories you bring home with you.” - Creative Jason

Those five hours were probably the best thing I did for myself all week. Potential client, you too can experience this sense of freedom and peace of mind when hiring Creative Jason for your creative written or visual projects. Allow me to de-stress your life and show your audience why you deserve their undivided attention. My involvement will be just as refreshing as a day at the beach.
